RadarLab X Help Guide
Introduction
About RadarLab
RadarLab is a powerful, browser-based tool for analyzing NEXRAD and TDWR weather radar data—designed for professionals, storm spotters, researchers, and anyone who needs to dig deeper into the atmosphere.
Unlike traditional radar software, RadarLab runs entirely in your browser. There’s nothing to install. No plugins. Just instant access to in-depth meteorological data wherever you are.
First launched in 1998 as weatherTAP’s first venture into radar visualization, RadarLab has a long legacy of providing fast, reliable, and customizable radar tools. Now, in 2025, we’re proud to introduce RadarLab X—the most advanced version yet. An open beta is available to all weatherTAP subscribers at no extra charge.
What makes RadarLab X different?
True in-browser performance: Leveraging modern web technologies, RadarLab X offers a fast, fluid experience without sacrificing the power and precision meteorologists demand.
Unmatched data access: View high-resolution Level II, Level III, and MRMS national radar products—delivered as quickly as possible.
Advanced scan support: RadarLab X now supports SAILS (Supplemental Adaptive Intra-Volume Low-Level Scan) and MRLE (Multiple Elevation scans), giving you even more timely and detailed low-level data when it matters most.
Unrivaled customization: Overlay boundaries, lightning, storm tracks, velocity, warnings, and more. Fine-tune your view to focus on exactly what you need to see. You can even build custom color scales for a variety of radar products using an intuitive editor!
Designed for depth: Whether you’re tracking a supercell or analyzing large-scale storm systems, RadarLab X gives you the tools to explore radar data with clarity and control.
With over two decades of innovation behind it, RadarLab X sets a new standard for radar visualization. It’s not just weather radar—it’s radar analysis reimagined.
